About the Role: Financial Analyst
As a Financial Analyst on the FP&A team, you’ll be responsible for a wide range of financial analysis tasks with a particular focus on supply chain and transportation costs. This includes preparing variance analyses comparing actual results to budget and forecast, developing financial models for network cost evaluation, and tracking key performance indicators such as cost per unit shipped and cost as a percentage of volume. You’ll also support month-end close activities including accruals and journal entries.
Beyond the numbers, this role requires strong collaboration. You’ll be partnering with Supply Chain and Transportation operations teams to understand what’s driving costs and to support sound business decisions. You’ll also look for ways to improve and automate reporting workflows, contributing to a more efficient finance function overall.
Benefits and Salary
Canadian Tire offers a competitive salary for this role, with a hiring range between $53,000 and $88,000 CAD annually and a target salary range of $65,000 to $75,000 CAD annually, depending on experience, skills, and other factors. Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll be involved in the full cycle of financial planning and analysis, from monthly close activities to long-range budgeting. Your work will directly inform how the supply chain and transportation functions manage costs and invest resources — making accuracy and analytical thinking essential at every step.
- Support the monthly forecasting and annual budgeting process for SC&T cost centres
- Analyze transportation and logistics costs, including freight, fuel, and carrier expenses, identifying trends and variances
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages with variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast) and clear, actionable commentary
- Partner with Supply Chain and Transportation operations teams to understand cost drivers and support decision-making
- Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate transportation network costs, route optimization initiatives, and vendor/carrier contracts
- Track key performance indicators including cost per unit shipped and cost as a percentage of volume
- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and business cases supporting capital and operational investment decisions
- Support month-end close activities, including accruals and journal entries related to SC&T costs
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation in reporting and analysis workflows
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across financial systems and reporting tools
Requirements / Skills
The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in financial analysis or FP&A, paired with strong technical skills and the ability to communicate financial findings clearly to non-financial audiences. - Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
- 2–4 years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or a related finance role
- Professional designation (CPA, CFA, or equivalent) in progress or completed is considered an asset
- Advanced Excel skills including financial modelling, pivot tables, and advanced formulas; Power BI or similar BI tools are a plus
- ERP/financial systems experience with tools such as SAP, Oracle, or Hyperion is preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into clear insights
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all deliverables
