DCEO Engineer 3 – Amazon Web Services (AWS) – Manassas, VA

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a dedicated and goal-driven DCEO Engineer 3 to join their Data Center Engineering Operations Team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for maintaining the infrastructure of AWS data centers, ensuring better than 99.999% uptime to support customer services. As an Engineering Operations Technician (EOT), you will play a key role in maintaining the operation and efficiency of data center equipment, including electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems.

This position requires expertise in performing planned preventative maintenance and daily corrective work, as well as acting as the first line of defense for technical issues. Reporting to the site’s Data Center Facility Manager, you will collaborate with third-party vendors and have the opportunity to lead small-to-medium projects aimed at driving innovation and reducing operational costs, contributing to the ongoing success of AWS’s advanced cloud infrastructure..

About the Role

As a DCEO Engineer 3, you will be responsible for ensuring the peak operation of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment. Your duties will encompass planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective actions, and rapid emergency response.

Additionally, you will lead and execute high-impact projects, collaborating with internal teams such as engineering, automation, and finance. In this role, you will play a crucial part in driving innovation and maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence at AWS data centers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on data center equipment.
  • Respond to critical emergencies to ensure data center uptime.
  • Collaborate with vendors and contractors to oversee installations and repairs.
  • Work closely with the Data Center Facility Manager and Chief Engineer to maintain facility efficiency.
  • Manage electrical systems, including low and medium voltage systems, UPS, ATS, and emergency generators.
  • Maintain chilled water systems, water treatment systems, and building automation systems.
  • Complete project milestones, track costs, and document results for medium-impact projects.

Basic Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in electrical or mechanical systems.
  • 1+ years of experience in data centers or mission-critical facilities (e.g., hospitals, military bases, etc.).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of data center engineering experience.
  • Experience with large-scale electrical and mechanical systems in a data center environment.
