Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Data Scientist to join our Sales, Strategy, and Operations team. Key Responsibilities
As a Data Scientist in our Sales Insights and Analytics team, you will be expected to lead projects that directly impact our sales strategies and business outcomes. You will work on the full machine learning lifecycle, from research and development to deployment and optimization.
Your role will involve close collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure that the solutions you develop are aligned with business needs and deliver tangible results.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers, data scientists, and engineers to translate business problems into effective machine learning, data science, and statistical solutions.
- Lead the full machine learning development lifecycle, from research and development to deployment, production scheduling, and ongoing maintenance.
- Develop state-of-the-art causal inference models to identify key business drivers and optimize decision-making.
- Work with large volumes of structured and unstructured data across multiple databases, designing and implementing data pipelines for research and modeling purposes.
- Utilize AWS services (e.g., AWS Redshift, S3, EC2, Glue) to deploy scalable machine learning models in the cloud.
- Communicate insights to business leaders in a clear and concise manner, ensuring that complex data findings are understood and actionable.
- Examples of projects include propensity-to-buy prediction, product recommendation, forecasting, anomaly detection, text classification, and generative AI content generation.
Compensation & Benefits
Amazon offers a competitive salary range for this position, which is between $125,500 and $212,800 per year, depending on location, experience, and qualifications.

Basic Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must possess a strong background in data science, machine learning, and statistical analysis. You should be proficient in data querying and scripting languages, and have experience applying theoretical models in real-world scenarios. The following qualifications are required:
- 2+ years of experience as a data scientist.
- 3+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, Matlab).
- 3+ years of experience with machine learning/statistical modeling, data analysis tools, and techniques.
- Proven experience in applying theoretical models in practical, real-world environments.
Preferred Qualifications
While the basic qualifications are essential, we value additional skills and experiences that can enhance your contributions to our team. The following qualifications are preferred and will help you stand out as a candidate:
- Experience with Python, Perl, or another scripting language.
- Experience in a machine learning or data scientist role within a large technology company.
