About the Role: Data Engineering Student

As a Data Engineering Student, your primary focus will be on designing, building, and optimizing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for large-scale datasets. You’ll work with cloud platforms such as Azure and Hadoop, contribute to data quality initiatives, and help implement monitoring tools that keep datasets reliable and accurate.

Collaboration is central to this role. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data availability and integrity, document your workflows, and contribute to evolving best practices in data engineering. This is a student position designed to give you real experience and measurable outcomes that align with Canadian Tire’s broader business goals.

Benefits and Salary

Canadian Tire offers a broadband salary range of $23.00 to $37.00 CAD per hour, with a typical hiring range between $23.00 and $30.00 per hour. Requirements / Skills

Canadian Tire is looking for a student who is technically grounded and eager to apply their knowledge in a large-scale enterprise environment. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in data concepts and is comfortable navigating both structured and unstructured data challenges.

• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
• SQL proficiency and familiarity with at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or Scala
• Understanding of data modelling and relational databases
• Exposure to big data technologies such as Apache Spark or Hadoop is considered an asset
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically through complex data challenges
• Clear communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
