About the Role: CTV Class AZ Driver
The primary function of a Commercial Transport Vehicle (CTV) Driver at FedEx is to transport freight safely and with a sense of urgency to and from stations and hub facilities. You’ll be responsible for the movement of large, skidded freight and multi-piece shipments, ensuring every load is handled in accordance with FedEx safety and compliance standards. The shift runs Monday to Friday, 4:30 AM to 9:30 AM, making it a morning-focused schedule — though timings may be adjusted based on operational needs.
This role also involves compliance with dangerous goods handling certifications, ULD inspection for FAA airworthiness, and adherence to customs and cross-border regulations including FAST (US customs/criminal background check) requirements. Drivers with pickup and delivery responsibilities must demonstrate proficiency with PUD processes and customs paperwork within the first 90 days. Drug and alcohol testing applies as part of regulatory requirements for drivers, and pre-hire drug testing is mandatory for DOT cross-border drivers.

Responsibilities
As a CTV Class AZ Driver at FedEx Gloucester, your day revolves around the safe, timely movement of freight and the proper handling of equipment. These responsibilities are central to keeping FedEx’s supply chain running smoothly and on time.
- Transport freight to and from FedEx stations and hub facilities in a safe and responsible manner
- Handle pickup and delivery of large skidded freight and multiple-piece skidded shipments
- Operate power material handling equipment for proper loading, weight balancing, and sequencing of unit loading devices
- Complete TORTES application entries as required during operations
- Perform ULD inspections to test FAA airworthiness and follow all ramp procedures
- Comply with dangerous goods handling protocols and t-stacking certification requirements
- Process PUD customs paperwork accurately and in accordance with the Courier training manual (for drivers with PUD responsibilities)
- Communicate effectively between hub, station facility management, and dispatch throughout the shift
Requirements / Skills
FedEx is looking for a skilled and safety-conscious driver who brings both technical knowledge and professional discipline to every shift. The ideal candidate holds the required certifications, has a clean driving record, and is comfortable navigating inter-provincial regulations and logistics software.
- Class AZ (Class 1) driver’s licence — unrestricted, with a good driving record (no more than 2 violations/accidents in the past 24 months)
- Air brake certification required (Class 1 in Quebec includes air brake certification)
- Twelve months of heavy vehicle driving experience preferred
- High school diploma required
- Dangerous goods handling certification, MHE operation, and ULD inspection training must be current
- FAST compliance — ability to meet US customs regulations and criminal background check requirements
- Knowledge of Tortes, Famis, and Windows-based applications; Cosmos experience is an asset
- Broad geographical knowledge of intra- and inter-provincial routes, with the ability to read and interpret maps
- Bilingualism (French and English) required for candidates residing in Quebec
