About the Role: Counterperson – Food Services

As a Counterperson – Food Services, you’ll be responsible for a wide variety of tasks throughout the coffee shop. Responsibilities

The day-to-day work in this role spans customer service, food preparation, and general kitchen maintenance. Every task — from serving guests at the counter to sanitizing equipment — plays a key part in keeping the coffee shop clean, efficient, and welcoming for every customer who walks through the door.

  • Serve customers at counters or buffet tables and take their orders promptly and courteously
  • Prepare, heat, and finish simple food items and package take-out orders
  • Portion and wrap foods and stock refrigerators and salad bars
  • Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruit using manual and electrical appliances
  • Operate dishwashers and sanitize dishes, glassware, flatware, and kitchen tools by hand
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, cupboards, appliances, equipment, and dining areas including tables, chairs, and trays
  • Replenish condiments and supplies at tables and serving areas
  • Receive, unpack, and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, and cupboards
  • Remove kitchen garbage, sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors
  • Keep records of the quantities of food used throughout the shift
