About the Role: Casual Package Handler / Non-Driver

This casual, part-time warehouse role at FedEx’s Whitby location centres around freight handling within the facility. Your main tasks involve loading and unloading freight, as well as scanning and sorting packages to ensure they’re processed accurately and efficiently. The shift starts between 3am and 4am (currently running 4am to 9am), and you’ll be required to work on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Physical capability is a key part of this position — you’ll need to lift up to 70 lbs and manoeuvre packages weighing up to 150 lbs with the appropriate equipment. Safety awareness, reliability, and the ability to complete all required training are essential to performing well in this role.

Responsibilities

As a Casual Package Handler, your day-to-day work takes place inside the FedEx facility where speed and accuracy matter. Each shift contributes directly to on-time package delivery across the FedEx network, so attention to detail and physical readiness are both equally important.

• Load and unload freight as packages move through the facility
• Scan packages accurately to maintain tracking integrity throughout the system
• Sort freight efficiently to ensure correct routing and timely processing
• Manoeuvre packages weighing up to 150 lbs using appropriate equipment
• Complete all mandatory training and recurrency programs as required by FedEx
• Operate in a PC Windows environment as part of standard facility operations
• Adapt to varying shift requirements based on business needs as they arise

Requirements / Skills

FedEx is looking for someone who is physically capable, reliable, and ready to work early morning hours. Beyond physical stamina, the right candidate will be someone who takes training seriously and works well with their teammates in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not strictly required
• Physical ability to lift 70 lbs and manoeuvre packages up to 150 lbs with equipment
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
• Familiarity with FedEx Canada operations and Canadian Customs regulations is a plus
• Ability to complete all basic and recurrency training to FedEx standards
• Availability for mandatory days: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Comfort working in a PC Windows environment as part of day-to-day operations
