Assistant Team Leader – Dollarama – Sherwood Park, AB

Dollarama is looking for an Assistant Team Leader to join their team in Sherwood Park, Alberta. As an Assistant Team Leader, you’ll work alongside the store management team to keep daily operations running smoothly — from stocking shelves and handling shipments to serving customers and overseeing team routines. It’s a hands-on role that blends leadership with frontline retail work.

About the Role: Assistant Team Leader

This position puts you at the centre of store operations. You’ll support the management team with tasks like opening and closing the store, managing cash, coordinating daily breaks, and logging attendance. Beyond admin duties, you’ll be on the floor — unboxing shipments, stocking products to presentation standards, and ensuring the store is safe and clean for both customers and staff.

A key part of this role is customer service — resolving issues quickly and professionally while maintaining a welcoming store environment. You’ll also play a part in training new employees, helping build a capable and motivated team. Flexibility across day, evening, and weekend shifts is essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Team Leader role covers a wide range of daily tasks that keep the store operating at a high standard. From supporting management decisions to directly serving customers, your contribution will be felt across every part of the store’s day-to-day function.

• Support management in overseeing store operations and coordinating staff throughout the shift
• Receive and process daily shipments, including boxing and unboxing merchandise
• Stock shelves with daily products in compliance with Dollarama’s presentation standards
• Deliver customer service and handle customer issues in a timely and professional manner
• Maintain safety and cleanliness standards throughout the store
• Conduct manager-on-duty tasks including tracking attendance and ensuring staff breaks are taken
• Perform cash management and assist with store opening and closing procedures as needed
• Participate in employee training to support team development and onboarding

• Approximately one year of retail experience in a relevant customer-facing environment
• Approximately one year in a supervisory role with demonstrated leadership abilities
• Flexible availability across day, evening, and weekend shifts
• Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with both staff and customers
• Customer service orientation with a proactive approach to resolving issues
