Assistant Team Leader – Dollarama – Calgary, AB

Dollarama is looking for an Assistant Team Leader to join their team in Calgary, Alberta. With both full-time and part-time roles available, this position is a great fit for someone with retail experience who’s ready to step into a leadership role and help keep a busy store running smoothly.

Day to day, you’ll be working alongside the management team to oversee store operations, assist customers, handle cash duties, and make sure the floor is stocked and looking its best. About the Role: Assistant Team Leader

As an Assistant Team Leader at Dollarama, you’ll play a key part in the daily flow of the store. From receiving and stocking shipments to performing manager-on-duty tasks, your role bridges frontline work and store leadership. You’ll be expected to step up when needed — whether that’s managing breaks, handling cash, or jumping in to resolve a customer concern.

This role also involves participating in the employee training process, which means you’ll have a hand in shaping how new team members learn the ropes. Contributing to store safety and cleanliness standards is part of the job too, so a detail-oriented mindset goes a long way here.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Team Leader role covers a wide range of tasks that keep the store running efficiently. From the sales floor to the back room, you’ll be actively involved in operations every shift — supporting both your team and your customers.

• Assist the management team in overseeing store operations and staff
• Box and unbox daily shipments as part of regular store receiving duties
• Stock products on shelves daily in compliance with presentation standards
• Provide customer service and resolve customer issues as they arise
• Ensure compliance with store safety and cleanliness standards
• Perform manager-on-duty tasks, including confirming daily breaks are taken and attendance is logged
• Handle cash management and perform store opening and closing duties as needed
• Participate in employee training to support new team members

Requirements / Skills

Dollarama is looking for a candidate who brings both retail experience and supervisory know-how to the table. The ideal person is organized, communicates well, and can keep their cool in a high-volume environment while keeping customer satisfaction front of mind.

• Approximately one (1) year of relevant experience in the retail industry
• Approximately one (1) year in a supervisory role
• Flexible availability required, including day, evening, and weekend shifts
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and priorities effectively
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to work well with both staff and customers
• Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills in a dynamic environment
• Ability to multitask and perform in a fast-paced, high-volume setting
• Customer service orientation with a focus on positive interactions
