Volume Counter, Mail Operations – Canada Post – North Vancouver, BC
Location: Vancouver, BC | Company: Canada Post
Canada Post is looking for Volume Counters for Mail Operations at its North Vancouver Capilano location. This is a temporary position running from October 19 to October 30, 2026 (Monday to Friday), with a training session on October 15, 2026 — a solid short-term opportunity for someone who’s organised, detail-oriented, and wants to contribute to a meaningful public service operation.
Working under the direction of a Route Measurement Officer, you’ll be gathering data on Letter Carrier routes — counting, weighing, and recording mail to help Canada Post maintain accurate and efficient delivery operations. The hours are mornings only (6:00 am to noon, minimum 3 hours per day), making it a manageable commitment for the 10-day contract period.
About the Role: Volume Counter, Mail Operations
As a Volume Counter, your main focus is on data collection and mail measurement in a structured postal environment. You’ll be working hands-on with physical mail — counting letter mail and oversized mail in letter carrier cases on a block basis, recording totals accurately, and completing Letter Carrier Route sampling forms. You’ll also weigh mail destined for letter carrier delivery and assist with basic analysis using a calculator.
This role requires a professional attitude and a commitment to punctuality and attendance — you must be available for all 10 days of the count, plus the mandatory training session. Since this work directly influences operational planning and route efficiency, your attention to detail truly matters. You’ll collaborate with postal staff and follow direction from supervisors, so the ability to work cooperatively within a team environment is essential.
Benefits and Salary
This temporary position pays $25.01 per hour. While the role is short-term in nature, it provides valuable experience within Canada Post’s operations network. Canada Post is also committed to employment equity and to fostering an accessible, inclusive workplace for all applicants.
