Superintendent, Fleet Maintenance – Canada Post – Vancouver, BC

Canada Post is looking for a driven and experienced Superintendent, Fleet Maintenance to join their Fleet Operations team in Vancouver, BC. As the Superintendent of Fleet Maintenance, you’ll oversee the full scope of the vehicle maintenance program at the repair facility and across assigned remote postal facilities. Responsibilities

The Superintendent, Fleet Maintenance plays a critical operational and leadership role within Canada Post’s Pacific Region fleet network. Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for keeping vehicles maintained, teams productive, and facilities compliant — all while managing budgets and safety standards with precision.

• Implement and monitor the Canada Post vehicle preventive and corrective maintenance program across the repair facility and assigned remote postal facilities to optimize vehicle availability
• Lead and supervise automotive maintenance facility staff, including assessing performance, providing coaching, and recommending hiring, discipline, promotion, and demotion decisions
• Gather, analyze, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the repair facility and remote locations, making recommendations for improvements and corrective action
• Monitor and enforce safety practices at the repair facility, investigate all injury-on-duty incidents, and implement safety policies to correct or improve workplace safety
• Investigate technical failures of vehicle components to determine root causes — whether related to faulty tooling, maintenance practices, or driving habits — and take corrective action
• Plan and prioritize workload within time and budgetary constraints, identify high-cost or unreliable vehicles for replacement, and manage spare parts inventory at minimum cost
• Review contractor work orders for consistency with parts and labour pricing, and ensure quality assurance of completed work
• Ensure accurate data entry into the Fleet Management Information System (FMIS) and maintain up-to-date vehicle records
• Participate in reviewing Standing Offer Agreements for Automotive Services and recommend staff training to the Manager and/or Fleet Maintenance Control Officer

Requirements / Skills

Canada Post is looking for a candidate who brings both technical credentials and leadership experience to this role. The ideal applicant will have a strong background in automotive maintenance, proven ability to manage teams in a unionized environment, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.

• High School Diploma or provincial equivalent (GED); equivalent experience may be considered
• Minimum 2 years’ experience managing a team within a unionized environment, OR a minimum of 2 years coaching/supervising apprentices or trainees in an automotive repair setting
• Valid Motor Vehicle Mechanic licence – Certificate of Qualification with an interprovincial Red Seal endorsement
• Valid permanent driver’s licence with a satisfactory safe driving record in compliance with Canada Post’s Driver Safety Program (no more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years, no licence suspension in the last 3 years)
• Working knowledge of regulatory requirements related to the operation of fleet vehicles and facilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for reporting and communication
• Assets include training or experience with alternate fuels (LPG, CNG, HEV, BEV, PHEV), hydraulic systems, and experience as a motor vehicle repair service advisor or service manager
