Startup Solutions Architect – Amazon Web Services – Toronto, ON
Location: Toronto, ON | Company: Amazon
If you live and breathe cloud technology and have a soft spot for early-stage companies, this role at Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Toronto, Ontario is worth your attention. The AWS Canada Startup Solutions Architecture team is looking for a Startup Solutions Architect who can serve as a trusted technical advisor to some of the country’s most ambitious emerging companies — helping them build fast, spend smart, and scale with confidence.
This isn’t a traditional enterprise architect role. You’ll be partnering directly with co-founders and CTOs, rolling up your sleeves to architect scalable cloud solutions across AI, containers, and serverless technologies, and translating real startup challenges into product improvements that benefit the broader ecosystem. You’ll also contribute to the Canadian startup community through workshops, digital content, and events — extending your impact well beyond one-on-one engagements.
About the Role: Startup Solutions Architect
Day to day, you’ll be engaging directly with early-stage startup customers to help them deploy the best, most scalable, and most secure architectures possible — all while keeping time and costs to a minimum. You’ll create cloud adoption plans alongside customer account teams, lead hands-on workshops with engineering teams, and design migration strategies in partnership with AWS Partners. The work blends deep technical problem-solving with relationship-building and strategic guidance.
Beyond customer-facing work, you’ll collaborate with internal AWS teams across marketing, training, and product to create content and advocate for features that matter most to the startups you serve. You’ll also have dedicated time to sharpen your own skills across AWS’s 200+ services — keeping your technical edge sharp across a rapidly evolving landscape. The team brings together diverse backgrounds including development engineers, machine learning specialists, and former CTOs.
Benefits and Salary
This position offers a base salary range of $115,100 to $166,900 CAD annually for the Toronto location, with total compensation potentially including sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined by experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon’s comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, and basic life & AD&D), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources to support overall health and well-being.
