Sr. Manager, Solutions Architecture, Financial Services (Insurance) – Amazon Web Services – Toronto, ON

Toronto’s financial services sector is growing fast, and Amazon Web Services Canada is looking for a seasoned Sr. Manager, Solutions Architecture to lead its Insurance-focused team within the AWS Canada Financial Services Business. This is a senior people leadership role that sits at the intersection of deep technical knowledge and strategic account management — built for someone who thrives guiding teams and shaping the cloud strategies of Canada’s largest Insurance organizations.

This is not a purely technical individual contributor role. You’ll be leading a high-performing team of FSI Solutions Architects, driving their development and performance while simultaneously engaging at the executive level with some of AWS’s most strategic Canadian customers. Your team will also serve as a critical feedback channel into AWS’s own product and services roadmap — giving this role real influence over what gets built next.

About the Role: Sr. Manager, Solutions Architecture

At its core, this role asks you to do two things well: lead talented people and deliver results for major Financial Services accounts. You’ll develop and execute technical strategy for key FSI customers, guide complex cloud engagements, and build trust-based relationships with customer executives and C-suite decision-makers. You’ll collaborate across Sales, Business Development, Marketing, Partners, and Training to develop and execute customer acquisition programs that drive business growth.

Beyond customer-facing responsibilities, you’ll be a culture carrier within AWS. You’ll champion team development, performance management, and career growth for your Solutions Architects, while also contributing to high-value industry content like whitepapers and technical presentations. Supporting executive briefings and digital transformation initiatives — including cloud migration and content delivery optimization — rounds out the scope of what this team delivers.

Benefits and Salary

The base salary for this position ranges from $194,000 to $291,000 CAD annually for the Toronto location. As part of Amazon’s total compensation philosophy, the package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. AWS also offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, and prescription), basic life and AD&D insurance, a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources to support health and well-being. Responsibilities

This role spans team leadership, strategic account management, and technical guidance — all at the enterprise level. Day-to-day, you’ll be coaching your team of Solutions Architects, engaging with senior customer stakeholders, and ensuring your team is aligned to both customer outcomes and AWS business goals. • Lead and develop a team of Solutions Architects supporting key Financial Services (Insurance) accounts across Canada
• Drive performance management, hiring decisions, and long-term career growth planning for each team member
• Develop and execute technical strategy for major FSI accounts, tailored to the needs of Canada’s Insurance sector
• Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Business Development, Marketing, Partners, and Training to execute customer acquisition strategies
• Build and nurture technical relationships with customer executives, VPs, and C-level decision-makers
• Measure and optimize team effectiveness through clearly defined KPIs
• Guide digital transformation initiatives including cloud migration and content delivery optimization
• Support executive briefings and lead technical deep-dive sessions with strategic customers
• Champion the creation of whitepapers, presentations, and other high-value customer-facing content to share industry best practices

Requirements / Skills

AWS is looking for a technical leader who brings both depth and breadth — someone equally comfortable coaching a team of architects as they are engaging at the C-suite level. The right candidate has a strong foundation in cloud architecture and enterprise sales or pre-sales, and understands the unique regulatory and operational landscape of the Financial Services industry.

• 10+ years of experience in sales, technical pre-sales, product development, or customer-facing roles
• 6+ years of people management experience leading technical teams of Solutions Architects, Sales Engineers, or similar roles
• Cloud architecture experience on any major platform — AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, or equivalent
• Direct customer engagement experience with a focus on supporting senior executives (VP and C-level)
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical work experience
• Experience architecting, migrating, or modernizing enterprise workloads to the cloud (preferred)
• AWS Professional-level certification or advanced technology degree (preferred)
