About the Role: Solutions Architect, Financial Services

As a Solutions Architect within the AWS Canada team, you’ll build deep relationships with FSI customers and help them understand how to best adopt and migrate to AWS cloud solutions. You’ll participate in detailed architectural discussions, contribute to white-papers and technical publications, and act as the bridge between customers, engineering teams, and support. This isn’t a purely technical role — you’ll need to think strategically about business challenges and translate them into effective cloud strategies.

Benefits and Salary

The base salary for this position in Toronto, Ontario ranges from $115,100 to $166,900 CAD annually. As part of Amazon’s total compensation approach, the package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Final compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and location. AWS also offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, and basic life & AD&D insurance), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources to support health and well-being.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be at the heart of AWS’s customer engagement efforts in the financial services sector. Your responsibilities span technical architecture, customer advocacy, and revenue enablement — making it a multifaceted position that rewards both technical expertise and business acumen.

  • Build deep customer relationships to serve as a trusted advisor for critical workloads supporting clients’ digital transformation and cloud migration journeys
  • Drive revenue growth by supporting the adoption and migration of applications, software, and services onto the AWS platform in close partnership with the sales team
  • Educate FSI customers on AWS’s value proposition and engage in detailed architectural discussions to ensure cloud solutions are designed for successful deployment
  • Contribute to technical publications including white-papers and blogs to share knowledge and scale best practices across the broader AWS community
  • Act as a liaison between customers, AWS service engineering teams, and support to effectively address client needs and resolve technical challenges
  • Shape cloud adoption strategy by identifying opportunities to broaden the use of the AWS platform across customer organizations

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in cloud computing and experience working within or alongside the financial services industry. AWS values candidates with a curious mindset and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical teams and executive-level stakeholders.

  • 4+ years of experience in technology domains such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, or data & analytics
  • 2+ years of experience in designing, implementing, or consulting on applications and infrastructure solutions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across technical and non-technical audiences, including C-suite and executive stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience
  • Cloud technology certification (e.g., AWS Solutions Architecture, Cloud Security Professional, or Cloud DevOps Engineering) is a strong asset
  • Experience architecting or deploying Cloud/Virtualization solutions within enterprise-scale customer environments
  • Knowledge of AWS services, market segments, and industry verticals, particularly within the FSI space, is highly preferred
