Software Dev Engineer, AI Analytics, Alexa Conversational Assistant Services – Amazon – Boston, MA (USA) – $223,600/year
The Alexa Analytics team is seeking a talented, self-directed Software Development Engineer to help pioneer new machine learning tools and processes through an iterative research and development cycle. If you are passionate about building robust data pipelines and developing strategic data models for advanced analytics platforms, this is the role for you!
In this role, you’ll be responsible for optimizing data models and pipelines within the Alexa Spoken Language Understanding space. You will power customized analytics software that is used by thousands of users each month.
As a Software Development Engineer, you will work independently within the team and collaborate across departments to source, optimize, and warehouse the right data for our customers. Your technical expertise and problem-solving skills will directly contribute to the success of Alexa’s AI analytics platform.
A Day in the Life
In this role, you’ll design and build novel inference infrastructure and modeling techniques using hardware like AWS Inferentia2. You’ll influence the predictive metrics roadmap and participate in scrum activities to ensure timely technical delivery.
By maintaining high standards for technical implementation, you will look for ways to enhance predictive metrics and infrastructure, while being the internal advocate for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate large-scale 24×7 services using Java, Python, and AWS services (EC2, S3, Kinesis, Lambda, DynamoDB).
- Develop and maintain key backend components and APIs.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to design and implement end-to-end system architecture.
- Work with Front End Engineers to connect backend components to user-tested UIs.
- Optimize the Alexa AI Analytics data pipelines in collaboration with other team members.
- Investigate design approaches, prototype new technology, and evaluate technical feasibility.
- Occasionally work on productionizing Machine Learning model pipelines (using Spark, PySpark, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
- Contribute to software development processes and practices within an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Build relationships with customers, partner teams, and internal engineers.
About the Team
We are a cross-functional organization of product managers, data engineers, software engineers, and machine learning scientists. Our team is dedicated to building and enhancing the analytics platform “Gale,” enabling Alexa developers to make informed business and customer experience decisions. We focus on big data, secure data, and user-friendly analytics applications.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, scaling of new and existing systems).
- Experience programming in at least one software programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Expertise in model deployment on inf2.
