About the Role: Postal Clerk – Retail and Operations
As a Postal Clerk, you’ll be working in both the retail and operations sides of the Humboldt post office. On the retail side, you’ll assist customers at the counter, handle financial transactions including cash, debit, and credit payments, and maintain product displays and inventory. On the operations side, you’ll be receiving, sorting, and processing mail using both manual techniques and mail processing equipment.
This role requires someone who is comfortable being on their feet — you may be standing for up to 3.5 hours at a time — and physically capable of handling mail items up to 22.7 kg (50 lbs). Responsibilities
A Postal Clerk at Canada Post wears many hats. - Operate mail processing equipment, including clearing jams and removing mail from sorting machines
- Transport mail between floors and sections using rolling or motorized equipment where applicable
- Review mail items for address accuracy and proper postage
- Enter data using a computer system when required
- Handle mail items weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lbs), including lifting, bending, reaching, and carrying throughout the shift
