Google’s Agent Registry team is hiring a Development Manager based in Waterloo, Ontario. About the Role: Development Manager, Agent Registry
The Agent Registry acts as the source of truth for the discovery, governance, and connection of AI Agents, Agent Skills, and Model Context Protocol Servers across Google Cloud and Workspace. As the Development Manager, you’ll own the control plane architecture and ensure your team builds the connective tissue that allows autonomous agents to discover each other, negotiate tasks, and securely execute enterprise data tools at scale.
You’ll be expected to model technical excellence while empowering individuals on your team to grow both technically and professionally. Collaboration is central to this role — you’ll work closely with internal cross-site teams and external partners to drive organizational alignment and deliver high-impact results.

Responsibilities
As Development Manager for the Agent Registry team, your day-to-day will span technical leadership, people management, and strategic planning. You’ll be responsible for both the direction of the product and the growth of the individuals building it — making every decision count at scale.
- Build and lead a high-performing team of software developers, modelling technical excellence and empowering career and leadership growth
- Drive technical strategy including system architecture and core design principles for the Agent Registry control plane
- Establish development best practices for performance and reliability across the team
- Partner with Product Managers and cross-functional leaders to define product goals and shape the strategic roadmap
- Align short-term delivery with long-term product outlook through close collaboration with senior leadership
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal cross-site teams and external partners to drive organizational alignment
- Manage project execution, set key milestones, and cultivate a positive team culture focused on continuous learning and psychological safety
Requirements / Skills
Google is looking for a seasoned technical leader with a proven track record in large-scale software development and people management. The ideal candidate combines deep engineering expertise with the interpersonal skills needed to build and scale high-performing teams in a complex, distributed environment.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
- 8 years of experience in software development
- 3 years of experience with large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role
- 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role
- Experience managing complex development initiatives at scale and leading high-impact, organization-wide technical efforts (preferred)
- Skip-level management experience and the ability to set up multi-tiered software development teams for success (preferred)
- Experience managing frontend developers and collaborating with UX designers to deliver intuitive, customer-facing platforms (preferred)
- Understanding of cloud services, system architectures, and large-scale cluster orchestration or production containerization systems (preferred)
