About the Role: Cloud Technical Solutions Developer
As a Cloud Technical Solutions Developer, you’ll own some of Google Cloud’s most critical and complex customer issues, providing level-two support to internal teams while serving as a subject matter expert for sales and customer organizations. Your work will directly influence how Google Cloud products are adopted and improved, making the platform more supportable and easier to deploy for businesses of every size.
This position requires availability for shift patterns or non-standard work hours, including potential weekend work, in keeping with the team’s global 24-hour coverage model. You’ll work closely with Site Reliability Developers and product teams, meaning strong collaboration and communication skills are just as important as your technical depth.

Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll be the primary owner of complex, high-priority customer issues while also building tools and processes that make the broader support organisation more effective. Your contributions span technical troubleshooting, internal tooling, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering teams — all with a focus on Google Cloud Platform reliability and customer success.
- Diagnose and resolve customer-reported issues on Google Cloud Platform products through effective debugging, root cause analysis, and implementation of new investigation tools
- Provide level-two support to internal support teams, owning large and important customer escalations end-to-end
- Act as a consultant and subject matter expert for sales and customer organisations, helping resolve technical deployment obstacles
- Troubleshoot technical problems using a mix of debugging, networking analysis, system administration, and scripting/coding
- Collaborate with Product and Development teams to improve supportability, product quality, and documentation
- Interact with Site Reliability Developer teams to drive high-quality production outcomes
- Build tools for faster diagnosis and develop in-depth knowledge of Google’s product technology and underlying architectures
- Work within a global shift-based schedule, including non-standard hours and potential weekend availability, to support 24×7 coverage
Requirements / Skills
Google is looking for a developer with deep technical expertise across databases, programming, and systems — someone who can move fluidly between hands-on debugging and high-level customer advocacy. Strong communication and problem-solving instincts are essential, as is a genuine drive to understand and champion customer needs within a fast-moving cloud environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 9 years of experience reading and debugging in Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Perl, or JavaScript within software frameworks
- 9 years of experience troubleshooting, advocating for customer needs, and triaging technical issues across hardware, software, application, and operational domains
- SQL/NoSQL database experience, including writing and executing queries against large datasets and log files
- Preferred: experience with containerisation and virtualisation technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, and container tooling (docker client, kubectl)
- Preferred: network troubleshooting experience, including collecting and reading packet captures
- Preferred: Linux/Unix system and network administrator-level knowledge, from kernel to shell, file systems, and client-server protocols
- Preferred: knowledge of HTTP protocol, web frameworks, and common web technologies, as well as core data structures and concepts
