Based in Toronto, Ontario, Amazon is looking for a Senior Project Manager, Dangerous Goods (DG) Regulatory Engagement to join its Corporate Operations team. This is a specialized, high-impact role for a subject matter expert in dangerous goods, storage, fire, and chemical safety who thrives at the intersection of regulation, technology, and global operations.

In this position, you’ll lead regulatory engagement initiatives on a worldwide scale — building relationships with international regulatory bodies, industry trade associations, and government partners to advance safer and smarter dangerous goods transport and storage practices. About the Role: Senior Project Manager, Dangerous Goods, Regulatory Engagement

This role sits at the heart of Amazon’s Dangerous Goods Regulatory Engagement strategy, requiring you to coordinate with global teams, regulators, and external organizations to reform and advance DG regulations. You’ll work closely with the WW DG Regulatory Engagement Senior Manager and other SMEs to develop and execute an annual engagement strategy, while maintaining active participation in key international standard-setting organizations including UNECE, US DOT/PHMSA, FAA, ICAO, IMO, OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and ISO.

Beyond external engagement, you’ll collaborate cross-functionally with Amazon’s DG Ops, Classification, Transportation, and Public Policy teams to translate regulatory progress into operational efficiencies. Safety is the central driver — every initiative you lead should reduce risk and enable compliance at scale, including through automation and technology.

Benefits and Salary

The base salary range for this position in Toronto, ON is $84,400 to $141,000 CAD annually. As a total compensation company, Amazon’s package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Responsibilities

This role demands both strategic leadership and hands-on execution across regulatory, operational, and cross-functional streams. You’ll be the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and industry partners while simultaneously driving internal process improvements and compliance innovation at Amazon’s global scale.

• Develop and execute an annual regulatory engagement strategy in collaboration with WW DG leadership, SMEs, and senior management
• Engage actively with key international DG regulatory bodies including UNECE, US DOT/PHMSA, FAA, ICAO, IMO, OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and ISO
• Maintain membership in global industry trade associations and NGOs involved in DG standard-setting and regulatory development
• Partner with Amazon Public Policy to ensure Amazon’s messaging on safe DG storage and transportation is communicated effectively to government and regulatory stakeholders
• Strengthen global carrier relationships by working alongside Amazon’s transportation organization to enable collaborative, safety-first decision-making across all geographies
• Identify and implement process improvements and mechanisms at scale to reduce DG risk across the fulfillment network
• Leverage automation and technology to find compliance solutions and drive operational efficiencies network-wide
• Support business expansion by contributing regulatory and strategic expertise across Amazon’s corporate umbrella, including businesses such as Kuiper, MGM/Prime Video, PillPack, Zoox, and One Medical

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in dangerous goods regulations, compliance, and risk management, combined with strong project management capabilities. Amazon values professionals who can operate independently in complex, international environments while building productive relationships with regulators and internal stakeholders alike.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent — a Master’s degree is considered an asset
• 6+ years of experience in compliance, audit, or risk management
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products and applications
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is preferred
• Experience with Dangerous Goods regulatory development processes for national and international bodies is a strong asset
• Familiarity with lean principles and Six Sigma methodologies or equivalent experience in technology-driven process improvement
