As a Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier with Canada Post, your primary responsibility is ensuring that mail and packages reach their destinations safely and on time. You’ll be sorting items at the start of your shift, then heading out on your assigned route to complete door-to-door and receptacle deliveries. Along the way, you’ll be expected to manage various Canada Post products and services, including processing Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail reports, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB).

Responsibilities

As an on-call relief carrier, every day on the road is a little different. You’ll be managing your route independently while maintaining the high service standards Canada Post is known for across rural and suburban communities. • Sort and deliver mail items in a safe and timely manner across assigned routes in Saint-Rémi, Saint-Michel, and Saint-Philippe
• Collect outgoing mail from customers and delivery receptacles along your route
• Maintain knowledge of local roads, customers, and delivery infrastructure
• Ensure secure handling of all mail items while in your possession
• Process Canada Post products and services, including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail reports, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB)
• Wear and display Canada Post identification at all times during delivery
• Lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 lb (22.7 kg)
• Operate your personal vehicle safely in all weather and traffic conditions

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in doing a job well and independently, with a solid driving record and a vehicle that meets Canada Post’s cargo requirements. Given the language profile of the region, French is essential for this role. Candidates residing within 75 km of the Saint-Rémi Post Office are preferred.

• Valid provincial driver’s licence — Class 5 or G (permanent, not learner’s)
• Satisfactory safe driving record — a clean abstract is required
• Personal vehicle with a minimum cargo capacity of 50 cu ft (1,415 litres), automatic transmission, power windows, metal roof-top with accessory power outlet, and a passenger window sill height between 38″ and 45″ from the ground
• Valid automobile liability insurance for vehicle use during employment, with notification to your insurance provider of commercial use
• French language proficiency — French is essential for this position
• Experience with deliveries and comfort operating a vehicle in varied weather and traffic conditions
• Physical capability to lift and carry items up to 50 lb (22.7 kg)
