Responsibilities

Day-to-day work as a Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier means you’re the face of Canada Post in your community. From sorting mail at the start of your shift to completing deliveries across rural roads and suburban neighbourhoods, every task contributes to keeping Canadians connected.

  • Deliver mail and parcels to customers along assigned rural and suburban routes in a safe and timely manner
  • Sort and collect mail items accurately before and during your route
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of local roads, customers, and delivery receptacles
  • Process Canada Post products and services including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail, and Items Delivered Bills
  • Ensure mail security by keeping items safely in your possession at all times
  • Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lb / 22.7 kg
  • Wear and display official Canada Post identification visibly during all deliveries
  • Maintain a courteous and professional manner when dealing with customers face-to-face

Requirements / Skills

Canada Post is looking for dependable, self-motivated individuals who are comfortable working independently in varying conditions.   • Automobile liability insurance — must be maintained for use of vehicle while employed

  • Experience making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in all weather and traffic conditions
  • Residency within 75 km of the Post Office in Rigaud is preferred
