As a Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, you’ll be responsible for sorting, collecting, and delivering mail items safely and on time. You’ll develop a thorough knowledge of local roads, customers, and delivery receptacles, ensuring every piece of mail reaches its destination securely. • Sort, collect, and deliver mail items in a safe and timely manner across assigned rural and suburban routes
• Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of local roads, customers, and delivery receptacles
• Secure all mail in your possession at all times to prevent loss or damage
• Process Canada Post products and services including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB)
• Wear and display Canada Post identification visibly while delivering and collecting mail
• Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lb (22.7 kg) as required
• Operate a motor vehicle safely in all weather and traffic conditions

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate for this role is someone who is dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working independently in a variety of conditions. • Valid permanent provincial driver’s licence — Class 5 or G required
• Satisfactory safe driving record — a clean history is essential for this role
• Personal vehicle meeting mandatory requirements: minimum cargo capacity of 50 cu ft (1,415 litres), automatic transmission, power windows, metal roof-top with accessory power outlet, appropriate window sill height, and fifth door/hatchback preferred
• Automobile liability insurance for personal vehicle use, with your insurer notified of its use for Canada Post
• French language proficiency — French is essential for this position
• Experience making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in varying weather and traffic conditions
• Residency within 75 km of the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield Post Office is preferred
