Responsibilities

• Sort, collect, and deliver mail items in a safe and timely manner across assigned rural and suburban routes
• Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of local infrastructure, including roads, customers, and delivery receptacles
• Secure all mail in your possession at all times, ensuring nothing is lost or mishandled during delivery
• Process Canada Post products and services including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail reports, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB)
• Wear and display Canada Post identification visibly while out on delivery and when interacting with customers
• Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lb/22.7 kg as part of regular daily duties
• Operate a personal motor vehicle safely in all weather and traffic conditions throughout your assigned area

Requirements / Skills

Canada Post is looking for people who are organized, physically capable, and committed to safe and professional conduct on the road and with customers.

• Valid permanent provincial driver’s licence — Class 5 or G required
• Satisfactory safe driving record — a current driver’s abstract dated within the last 30 days will be required if selected
• Personal vehicle meeting cargo requirements — minimum 100 cu ft (2,832 litres) cargo capacity, metal roof-top, accessory power outlet, and a fifth door/hatchback (preferred)
• Automobile liability insurance — must provide and maintain appropriate coverage, and notify your insurer of vehicle use for Canada Post
• Experience making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in varied weather and traffic conditions
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb/22.7 kg regularly throughout the workday
• Residing within 75 km of the Post Office in Lake Country is preferred for applicants
