Responsibilities

As a Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, your day-to-day work keeps Canadian communities connected. Every task you carry out — from sorting mail to navigating local roads — directly impacts the experience of residents and businesses counting on timely, accurate delivery.

• Sort, collect, and deliver mail items in a safe and timely manner across assigned routes
• Build and maintain knowledge of local roads, customers, and delivery receptacles in the Lac St-Charles area
• Secure all mail properly while in your possession to prevent loss or damage
• Process Canada Post products and services including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail reports, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB)
• Wear Canada Post identification visibly at all times during delivery and collection activities
• Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lb (22.7 kg) as required
• Operate a motor vehicle safely under all weather and traffic conditions

Requirements / Skills

Canada Post is looking for a responsible, organised, and safety-conscious individual who can work independently and adapt to varying routes and conditions. Given that this role is based in Quebec, French language skills are essential for day-to-day operations and customer interactions.

• Language: French Essential — must be able to communicate effectively in French
• Valid driver’s licence: Permanent provincial driver’s licence, Class 5 or G
• Safe driving record: A satisfactory driving abstract (dated within the last 30 days) is required upon selection
• Personal vehicle requirements: Must have a vehicle with automatic transmission, power windows, metal roof-top, accessory power outlet, a cargo capacity of at least 50 cu ft (1,415 litres), and a fifth door/hatchback (preferred)
• Automobile insurance: Must hold and maintain required liability insurance and notify your insurer of vehicle use for Canada Post deliveries
• Residency preference: Applicants residing within 75 km of the Lac St-Charles Post Office are preferred
• Physical ability: Capable of lifting and carrying items up to 50 lb regularly
