This is a temporary, on-call position that requires you to sort, collect, and deliver mail items safely and on time across designated routes. Responsibilities

The day-to-day work of a Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier revolves around keeping communities connected by ensuring mail and parcels are delivered safely, accurately, and on time. Each shift demands focus, physical readiness, and a thorough knowledge of your assigned routes and customers.

• Sort and deliver mail items in a safe and timely manner across assigned rural and suburban routes
• Collect mail from customers and ensure all items are safely secured throughout the delivery process
• Learn and maintain working knowledge of local infrastructure, roads, customers, and delivery receptacles
• Process Canada Post products and services including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail reports, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB)
• Wear Canada Post identification visibly at all times while on delivery duty
• Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lb / 22.7 kg as required
• Operate a motor vehicle safely across all weather and traffic conditions

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate is a dependable, organized individual who is comfortable working independently and can adapt quickly to changing route demands. Canada Post values safety, professionalism, and reliability in all of its carriers — both on the road and when interacting with customers.

• Valid permanent provincial driver’s licence — Class 5 or G required
• Satisfactory safe driving record — a current driver’s abstract dated within the last 30 days will be required if selected
• Personal vehicle meeting mandatory requirements: minimum 50 cu ft cargo capacity, automatic transmission, power windows, metal roof-top with accessory power outlet, and specific window sill height specifications
• Automobile liability insurance for personal vehicle use while employed at Canada Post
• French language proficiency — French is essential for this position
• Experience making deliveries and driving in varied weather and traffic conditions is an asset
• Residency within 75 km of the Lac Etchemin Post Office is preferred
