This position places you at the heart of the community. You’ll liaise with local residents and businesses, administer retail hours of operation, manage postal revenue and assets, and keep records up to date. You may also sort mail to postal boxes and supervise staff as needed. It’s a role that requires you to wear many hats — community liaison, retail manager, and operations lead — all in a setting where your work genuinely matters to the people around you.
One important aspect of this role is that the successful candidate must be able to provide suitable, centrally located, and barrier-free premises within 30 days of hire. Postmasters are responsible for their premises costs, including rent, heating, lighting, cleaning, maintenance, and insurance. To help offset these costs, Canada Post provides a leasing allowance of $3,428.00 per year, plus a potential supplemental allowance paid annually.
Benefits and Salary
This permanent full-time role offers a wage of $22.10 per hour at 20 hours per week. In addition to the hourly rate, Postmasters receive a leasing allowance of $3,428.00 per year to help offset operating costs associated with providing the premises, and may also be eligible for a supplemental allowance paid once annually. Responsibilities

- High School Diploma or provincial equivalency, and/or experience in business administration
- Owned or leased premises that are suitable, centrally located, and barrier-free — available one month prior to the date of hire

- Knowledge of regulations, methods, and procedures for processing mail and providing postal services
- Physical fitness to lift mail containers of up to 50 lb, push or pull boxes, sort mail, and stand for extended periods
