Responsibilities
Working behind the counter of a Canada Post retail location, you’ll be responsible for a mix of customer-facing and operational duties. Each task plays a direct role in making sure local mail runs smoothly and that customers receive accurate, helpful service every time they visit.
- Sell postal products and services to members of the public and the local business community
- Sort and distribute mail into the appropriate classifications for efficient processing
- Provide customers with information, guidance, and necessary forms
- Resolve delivery and service issues promptly and thoroughly to maintain customer satisfaction
- Handle cash transactions accurately as part of retail counter service
Requirements / Skills
Canada Post is looking for candidates who are comfortable in a public-facing retail environment and can handle the physical and scheduling demands of an on-call position. Strong communication skills in both official languages are required, as this is a bilingual position. Preference will be given to Indigenous Peoples (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) and Persons with disabilities as part of Canada Post’s employment equity initiatives.
- High school diploma or provincial equivalency, and/or experience in business administration
- Retail or service experience involving interaction with the public, including sales and cash handling
- Understanding of general or post office accounting systems
- Physical fitness to lift mail containers up to 50 lb, push or pull boxes, sort mail, and stand for extended periods
- Flexibility to be available for temporary, on-call work as needed
- Bilingual proficiency (French and English) as per the Bilingual Imperative language requirement
- Preference given to candidates who reside in the community where the post office is located
