About the Role: Post Office Assistant (Term)
As a Post Office Assistant, your day-to-day will revolve around providing counter services to the public and business community. You’ll be handling postal product sales, assisting customers with forms and inquiries, and making sure mail is sorted and processed accurately. The position serves multiple post offices in the region, including Matapédia, Pointe-à-la-Croix, Escuminac, Saint-Alexis-de-Matapédia, Saint-François-d’Assise, and L’Ascension-de-Patapédia.

Responsibilities
Working as a Post Office Assistant means you’re the face of Canada Post in your community. From processing transactions at the counter to sorting incoming mail, every task plays a role in keeping postal services running smoothly for residents and businesses in the region.
- Sell postal products and services to both the business community and general public
- Sort, distribute, and process mail into the appropriate classifications

Requirements / Skills
Canada Post is looking for someone who is comfortable in a public-facing retail environment and can handle both customer service and physical aspects of the job. The right candidate brings flexibility, physical capability, and a genuine commitment to helping people.
- High school diploma or provincial equivalency and/or experience in business administration
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment, including sales and cash handling
- Understanding of general or post office accounting systems is an asset
- Physical fitness to lift mail containers up to 50 lbs, push/pull boxes, sort mail, and stand for extended periods
- Bilingual (French/English) — Bilingual Imperative (–BB) language requirement applies
- Flexibility to be available for on-call and temporary shifts as needed
- Preference given to candidates residing in the community served by the post office
