About the Role: Post Office Assistant
As a Post Office Assistant, you’ll be responsible for providing front-line customer service at the post office counter, handling mail sorting and distribution, and assisting members of the public and the business community with their postal needs. You’ll be expected to process sales and cash transactions accurately, answer customer inquiries, and supply customers with the forms and information they need.
This is a term, on-call position with variable hours from Monday through Saturday. You’ll need to be flexible and available as needed, and you should be comfortable working on your feet for extended periods. Physical fitness is important — the role involves lifting mail containers weighing up to 50 lbs, as well as pushing, pulling, and sorting mail. A security screening is required as part of the selection process, and the position may be considered Safety Sensitive under Canada Post’s Substance Use Policy.
