Canada Post is looking for six Officers, Delivery Services – Urban Planning to join their regional operations team in Québec, QC. This is a meaningful, full-time temporary two-year contract role (with the possibility of extension or permanency) that sits at the intersection of urban planning, logistics, and community engagement — ideal for someone who thrives on shaping how postal delivery services are built and delivered across growing communities.

In this role, you’ll work alongside municipal planning officials, real estate developers, contractors, and internal Canada Post teams to ensure that new delivery infrastructure meets the needs of Canadians. From assigning addresses and planning delivery modes to overseeing site installations and managing national delivery projects at the local level, this position offers a wide-ranging and dynamic scope of work.

About the Role: Officer, Delivery Services – Urban Planning

As an Officer, Delivery Services, you’ll be responsible for planning and implementing safe, cost-effective delivery solutions for a designated area of regional operations in Québec. You’ll monitor growth projections, develop addressing and delivery plans, and coordinate with both internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure Canada Post’s requirements are embedded in all new construction and urban development.

You’ll also act as a local lead on national delivery service projects, managing change across Canada Post and with contractors, customers, and government officials. Whether you’re mentoring Delivery Planners, resolving service complaints, or maintaining the integrity of key delivery systems like the Address Management System, your work will directly impact how Canadians receive their mail and parcels.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day, the Officer, Delivery Services – Urban Planning juggles a broad mix of planning, coordination, stakeholder engagement, and systems management. Each responsibility contributes to ensuring that Canada Post’s delivery network keeps pace with community growth and evolving customer needs.

• Monitor growth projections in designated communities and develop addressing and delivery plans accordingly
• Collaborate with municipal planning officials and real estate developers to ensure Canada Post’s requirements are incorporated into all new construction projects
• Plan and manage implementation of new points of call, including assigning addresses, delivery modes, and transfer points with safety and cost-effectiveness in mind
• Oversee site installations by establishing locations, coordinating street furniture and equipment needs, and working with contractors to ensure quality and timely completion
• Lead national delivery service projects at the local level, managing change with contractors, customers, government officials, and internal teams
• Investigate and resolve service issues and complaints while maintaining a high standard of customer experience
• Mentor and coach Delivery Planners on addressing and delivery procedures, supporting their professional development in Delivery Services
• Maintain data integrity in the Address Management System, MIS, and other delivery systems, providing first-level expertise and guidance
• Gather and analyse data on municipal and commercial development plans to provide input to the operational planning process

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical knowledge, planning expertise, and strong communication skills in French. Canada Post values candidates who can work independently in the field, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and keep pace with a dynamic and evolving urban environment.

• High School diploma or provincial equivalent (GED); equivalent experience may be accepted
• Post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree in urban planning, GIS, graphic design, rural planning, or a related discipline — OR minimum 2 years’ supervisory experience in collection and delivery/transportation — OR minimum 2 years in Delivery Services/Delivery Optimization roles — OR minimum 4 years in delivery logistics and/or urban planning
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel (Pivot Tables), PowerPoint (advanced presentations), and Access (basic relational databases)
• Working knowledge of Canada Post web applications such as SAP and KMA, plus non-CPC tools including Google Earth, Adobe Acrobat, and AutoCAD; ability to manipulate PDF maps
• Professional communication skills in both written and verbal formats at an advanced level; French Essential for this role
• Valid permanent driver’s licence with a satisfactory safe driving record per Canada Post’s Driver Safety Program
• Availability for frequent travel, including extended travel to remote areas and overnight stays as required
