About the Role: Mail Service Courier

Working as a Mail Service Courier at Canada Post means you’re part of the operational backbone of the country’s postal network. You’ll use a corporate delivery vehicle to collect and deliver mail across assigned routes, while also shuttling vehicles between parking areas and loading platforms to keep operations running smoothly. With three vacancies available, on-call drivers are called in on short notice, so flexibility is key.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day, a Mail Service Courier is responsible for the safe and timely movement of mail through Canada Post’s network. From performing pre-trip vehicle checks to communicating with customers, every task contributes to reliable delivery service and a positive experience for Canadians.

• Load and unload postal vehicles while keeping mail and Canada Post property safe and secure at all times
• Collect, sort, and deliver mail along assigned routes efficiently and accurately
• Operate portable communications devices to stay connected with dispatch and coordinate deliveries
• Perform vehicle safety checks before and during shifts to ensure roadworthiness
• Complete documentation and maintain accurate records related to deliveries and vehicle logs
• Communicate with customers and the public in a professional and courteous manner
• Shuttle corporate delivery vehicles between parking locations and loading platforms to support pre-loading operations

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate for this Mail Service Courier role is a safety-conscious, reliable driver who can work independently under time pressure. Only candidates holding a Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s licence with an air brake (F) endorsement will be considered.

• Valid Class 3/D driver’s licence (or higher) with the appropriate provincial air brake endorsement — mandatory requirement
• Clean driving record for at least 3 years — a recent driver’s abstract (within the last 30 days) will be required
• Physical ability to lift mail items weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lb)
• Availability to work on short notice — this is an on-call position requiring flexibility
• Customer service experience is an asset
• Experience as a professional driver in commercial delivery is an asset
• Experience driving a 5-ton truck or larger is considered an advantage
