Job Summary & Tips for Applying

AI-generated summary and tips to help you highlight your strengths effectively.

Quick Summary & What to Highlight: The Loss Prevention Clerk role at Costco in St. Albert requires a valid provincial Loss Prevention Licence and involves active patrol, suspect apprehension, and report preparation. Candidates should put their Loss Prevention Licence and any direct experience with theft apprehension and investigation at the top of their resume, as these are the two factors that will most directly affect how your application is assessed.

Resume & Application Tips: List your provincial Loss Prevention Licence prominently, including the licence number and expiry date, so it’s easy for a reviewer to confirm you meet the requirement. If you have experience applying the Criminal Code of Canada in a loss prevention context, name the specific provisions you’ve worked with (for example, theft under/over $5,000, fraud). A measurable achievement suits this kind of work well: for example, “Apprehended and processed 40+ shoplifting incidents over 12 months, resulting in a 15% reduction in shrink at the location.” Present that format for your own numbers.

Interview Preparation: Prepare a specific example of a theft apprehension you handled from detection through to report completion, covering how you applied relevant legislation. Have a clear answer ready on your availability for full shifts that include extended periods of physical patrol. Worth asking at the interview: the typical shift structure and whether the role involves any overnight or weekend coverage, since the posting does not state hours.
