About the Role: Letter Carrier – Delivery Agent and Postal Clerk

This is a temporary, on-call position that blends two essential functions at Canada Post. As a Delivery Agent (Letter Carrier), you’ll be a visible, trusted presence in your community — sorting mail in the depot, loading a Canada Post postal vehicle, and delivering mail and packages along your assigned route, whether by foot or by vehicle. As an on-call Postal Clerk, you’ll work inside a sorting facility handling mail and parcels across various shifts including evenings, overnights, and weekends.

Working in all types of weather, lifting parcels, and operating material handling equipment are all part of the job. Safety is a top priority at Canada Post, and this position may be considered a Safety Sensitive role subject to the company’s Substance Use Policy. Responsibilities

As a Delivery Agent or Letter Carrier, your day begins at the depot and takes you out into the community. As a Postal Clerk, your work happens inside the sorting facility across a range of shifts. Both roles are essential to getting mail and parcels where they need to go.

• Sort and prepare the day’s deliveries at the depot before heading out on route
• Load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle to cover your assigned delivery area
• Deliver mail and packages by foot or by vehicle to customers and businesses along your route
• Unload incoming mail and packages upon returning to the depot for later processing
• Sort, scan, sequence, and batch mail items within the sorting facility
• Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently
• Receive, accept, transfer, and dispatch parcels and packets as required
• Complete reports and documentation as part of daily postal clerk duties

Requirements / Skills

Canada Post is looking for candidates who are physically fit, dependable, and ready to work in a fast-paced operational environment. This role suits people who are comfortable outdoors in all weather conditions and who take pride in doing consistent, reliable work. Previous experience in delivery, customer service, or production environments is an asset.

• Valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a clean driving record for at least 3 years (driver’s abstract required)
• Physical ability to lift mail items up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day
• Ability to work in all weather conditions — rain, snow, and everything in between
• Availability to be on-call, including evenings and weekends as needed
• French language proficiency — French is essential for this position
• Reading, writing, and speaking ability in English and/or French
• Experience in customer service, delivery driving, or production environments is a strong asset
