As an on-call postal clerk, you’ll work inside a sorting facility, operating material handling equipment, scanning and sequencing mail items, receiving and dispatching parcels, and completing the necessary reports and documentation.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day work in this role spans both delivery and postal clerk functions depending on operational needs. Whether you’re out in the community running a delivery route or inside a facility processing mail, your contributions directly support Canada Post’s national delivery network and the millions of Canadians who rely on it.

  • Sort and prepare the day’s deliveries at the depot before heading out on your route
  • Load and operate a Canada Post postal vehicle safely and efficiently
  • Deliver mail and packages by foot or by vehicle to customers along your assigned route
  • Unload incoming mail and packages upon return to the depot for later delivery
  • Sort, scan, and sequence mail items within the sorting facility
  • Operate material handling equipment to process parcels and packets
  • Receive and dispatch parcels, transfers, and packets as required
  • Complete reports and documentation accurately in accordance with postal standards
  • Perform additional postal clerk duties as assigned to support facility operations

Requirements / Skills

Canada Post is looking for dependable, physically capable individuals who are comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and can adapt to shifting schedules. Strong candidates will have a clean driving record and a genuine interest in serving their community. Previous experience in customer service, driving, or production environments is a definite asset.

  • Valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a minimum 3-year safe driving record (driver’s abstract required)
  • Physical fitness to lift items up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day

  • On-call availability, including potential evenings and weekends
