About the Role: Letter Carrier – Delivery Agent

Your day as a Delivery Agent starts at the depot, where you’ll sort and prepare the day’s deliveries before loading up a Canada Post postal vehicle. From there, you’ll spend the bulk of your shift outdoors, delivering mail and packages by foot or vehicle along your assigned route. At the end of the day, you’ll return to the depot to unload incoming mail and parcels for the next round of deliveries.

This is a physically active, safety-sensitive position that requires you to work in all weather conditions. Canada Post takes safe driving practices and on-the-job safety seriously, and you’ll receive extensive classroom and hands-on training to make sure you’re fully prepared before heading out on your own.

Responsibilities

Day to day, a Letter Carrier at Canada Post balances depot work with active outdoor delivery. Your responsibilities span sorting and loading at the start of a shift to route delivery by foot and vehicle — making this a role that keeps you moving and engaged throughout the day.

  • Sort and prepare the day’s deliveries at the depot before heading out on route
  • Load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle safely and efficiently

Requirements / Skills

Canada Post is looking for dependable, physically capable individuals who are comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather. The ideal candidate holds a valid driver’s licence with a clean record and is available to be called in on short notice. Customer service experience and prior delivery work are definite assets in this role.

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (BC) or equivalent from another province/territory, with a safe driving record of at least 3 years (personal driving record required)
  • Physical fitness to lift items up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day
  • Availability to work on-call as required by operational needs
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
  • Proficiency in English and/or French — reading, writing, and speaking
  • Customer service experience is an asset
  • Previous delivery or driving experience is a strong advantage
