About the Role: Letter Carrier – Delivery Agent

Your day kicks off at the depot, where you’ll sort and prepare deliveries before loading up a Canada Post postal vehicle and heading out on your assigned route. The bulk of your shift is spent outdoors, delivering mail and parcels by foot and by vehicle. It’s active, independent work that keeps you moving and engaged throughout the day.

At the end of your shift, you’ll return to the depot to unload incoming mail and packages for future delivery. Safety is a core part of the job — from safe driving practices to proper lifting techniques — and Canada Post provides thorough classroom and on-the-job training to set you up for success from day one.

Responsibilities

As a delivery agent with Canada Post, your daily routine blends depot work with active outdoor delivery. Every task you carry out — from sorting parcels to navigating your route — plays a direct role in connecting Canadians with their mail and packages on time.

  • Sort and prepare the day’s deliveries at the depot each morning
  • Load and operate a Canada Post postal vehicle safely and efficiently
  • Deliver mail and parcels by foot and by vehicle along your assigned route

Requirements / Skills

Canada Post is looking for dependable, physically active individuals who take pride in their community and can handle the demands of outdoor delivery work. The right candidate is comfortable working independently, staying organized under pressure, and representing the company professionally on their route.

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (BC or provincial/territorial equivalent) with a clean, safe driving record of at least 3 years
  • Physical fitness — ability to lift items up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry loads up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) throughout the day
  • All-weather availability — comfortable working outdoors in rain, cold, heat, and everything in between
  • On-call flexibility — must be available to work on an on-call schedule
  • English language proficiency — ability to read, write, and communicate in English (French also an asset)
  • Customer service experience is an asset, as is prior experience in deliveries or driving roles
