About the Role: Letter Carrier / Delivery Agent

Your day begins at the depot, where you’ll sort and prepare the day’s mail and packages before loading up a Canada Post postal vehicle. From there, you’ll spend the majority of your shift outdoors, delivering mail and parcels by foot or vehicle along your assigned route. At the end of the day, you return to the depot to unload incoming items for later delivery. It’s a physically active role that keeps you moving in all weather conditions.

This position is classified as Safety Sensitive, meaning additional requirements apply under Canada Post’s Substance Use Policy. You’ll be expected to uphold safe driving practices, follow established procedures, and represent the organization with professionalism on every delivery.

Responsibilities

A typical day as a delivery agent at Canada Post involves a mix of depot work and active outdoor delivery. You’ll handle everything from sorting and loading mail to driving designated routes and interacting with customers along the way — making accuracy and reliability essential parts of the job.

  • Sort and prepare the day’s mail and parcels at the depot before heading out on your route

  • Unload incoming mail and packages at the depot at the end of each shift for subsequent delivery
  • Maintain safe driving practices and comply with Canada Post’s safety and substance use policies
  • Represent Canada Post professionally in the community as the primary point of contact for customers on your route

Requirements / Skills

Canada Post is looking for reliable, physically fit candidates who are comfortable working outdoors year-round and can handle the demands of an active delivery route. A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record are non-negotiable for this role, along with the flexibility to be available on-call.

  • Valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a safe driving record of at least 3 years (driver’s abstract required)
  • Physical fitness to lift items up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions throughout the year
  • On-call availability as required by the temporary nature of the position
  • Language skills in French and/or English (French is essential for this position in Joliette)
  • Customer service experience is an asset, as is experience with deliveries or driving roles
