About the Role: Letter Carrier – Delivery Agent

Your day kicks off at the depot, where you’ll sort and prepare the day’s deliveries before loading up a Canada Post postal vehicle. From there, you’ll spend the bulk of your shift outdoors — on foot or behind the wheel — delivering mail and packages along your assigned route. When the route is done, you head back to the depot to unload incoming items for processing.

This is a physically demanding role that requires working in all weather conditions — including snow, rain, and extreme temperatures. Routes can involve 20–25 km of walking, regardless of conditions, so physical fitness and stamina are essential. Being available on short notice is also part of the deal, as you may be called in the same day to cover a shift.

This position offers a starting wage of $23.81 per hour. Canada Post also provides extensive classroom and on-the-job training covering both your duties and workplace safety. Responsibilities

As a Delivery Agent with Canada Post, your day is structured around ensuring accurate and timely delivery of mail and parcels to customers on your assigned route. The work is hands-on and active, combining depot tasks with extended time outdoors — making efficiency and physical readiness key parts of the job.

• Sort and prepare the day’s deliveries at the depot each morning before heading out on route
• Load and operate a Canada Post postal vehicle safely in compliance with traffic regulations
• Deliver mail and packages by foot or vehicle to residential and business customers along your assigned route
• Work outdoors for the majority of your shift in all weather conditions, including snow, rain, and heat
• Cover routes that may involve up to 20–25 km of walking, including stairs and uneven terrain
• Return to the depot at the end of your shift to unload incoming mail and packages for later delivery
• Respond to on-call requests on short notice, sometimes the same day, to cover delivery routes as needed

Requirements / Skills

Canada Post is looking for reliable, physically capable individuals who are comfortable working independently outdoors. The right candidate takes safety seriously, manages their time well, and is proud to represent Canada Post in the Baie-Comeau community. Prior delivery or customer service experience is a bonus but not required.

• Valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a clean driving record for a minimum of 3 years (driver’s abstract required)
• Physical ability to lift items up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and regularly carry items up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) throughout the day
• Availability to work on call, Monday to Friday, with the ability to respond to same-day call-ins
• Ability to work in all weather conditions year-round, including winter conditions
• French language proficiency is essential for this role (French Essential); English proficiency is also an asset
• Experience in customer service or prior delivery/driving work is considered an asset
