About the Role: Head of Content Acquisition, Canada

You’ll own the content acquisition strategy for Prime Video Canada end-to-end — from identifying compelling content opportunities to negotiating deals, building financial models, and presenting plans to senior leadership. Drawing on your deep knowledge of the digital video landscape, you’ll work across Canada’s content ecosystem to develop new business models and deliver premium entertainment to Amazon customers.

Collaboration is central to this position. You’ll work closely with internal teams across Amazon Prime Video’s functional areas globally, while managing a broad network of external relationships with studios, channel groups, and niche media organizations. Benefits and Salary

The base salary range for this position in Toronto is $123,800 to $206,700 CAD annually. As part of Amazon’s total compensation approach, the package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life and AD&D), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources to support health and well-being.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be the driving force behind Prime Video Canada’s content roadmap, balancing strategic vision with day-to-day execution across deals, relationships, and internal collaboration. Your work directly shapes what Canadian customers watch — making every decision both commercially and culturally significant.

  • Build and execute a comprehensive content acquisition strategy for Prime Video Canada
  • Identify and negotiate deals with content owners across Canada’s TV and film landscape
  • Develop content plans, financial metrics, and goals for presentation to senior leadership
  • Leverage customer behaviour, usage, and consumption data to inform strategic decision-making
  • Cultivate and grow relationships with senior-level leaders at major content providers
  • Manage ongoing relationships with studios, channel groups, and niche video media organizations
  • Drive continuous improvement in all operational aspects of Amazon’s relationships with digital content suppliers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams across Amazon Prime Video globally
  • Develop new business models to deliver premium content to customers

Requirements / Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in account management, business development, content licensing, or finance
  • 8+ years of experience developing, negotiating, and executing business agreements
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Knowledge of the digital video landscape, including digital video distribution technologies
  • Experience with media licensing models, evaluation metrics, and deal terms
  • Ability to convert insights into strategy and communicate complex ideas clearly in writing (preferred)
  • Experience managing multiple account relationships and deals simultaneously, ideally in media or entertainment (preferred)
