About the Role: General Merchandise Associate

As a General Merchandise Associate, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the general merchandise area of the store — ensuring products are properly stocked, zoned, and displayed according to planograms. You’ll assist customers with product selection, help locate merchandise, and contribute to an overall positive shopping experience that keeps customers coming back.

This role also involves supporting team coverage across the sales floor and Front End when needed. You’ll follow Walmart’s safety and compliance procedures, complete safety sweep logs, and ensure displays and fixtures remain secure. Flexibility with scheduling — including evenings, weekends, and holidays — is an important part of making this role work.

The minimum rate of pay for this position starts at $16.15 per hour. Responsibilities

Working as a General Merchandise Associate at Walmart means balancing customer-facing service with behind-the-scenes stocking and merchandising tasks. Every shift contributes directly to a clean, well-stocked store that helps Canadian shoppers find what they need quickly and easily.

• Deliver customer service by greeting shoppers, assisting with product selection, helping locate merchandise, and resolving concerns as needed
• Maintain sales floor coverage across assigned areas and support Front End coverage when required
• Zone assigned areas to keep the sales floor clean, organized, and customer-ready at all times
• Process recovery merchandise from the Customer Service desk and other store areas, returning items to their modular locations
• Stock merchandise, complete downstocking, apply product protection, and execute planograms including flex modulars and new shelf caps
• Follow safety and compliance procedures, complete safety sweep logs, and ensure fixtures and displays are secure
• Handle physical demands including standing for extended periods, bending, and lifting up to 20 lbs. regularly, and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs
