About the Role: General Merchandise Associate

As a General Merchandise Associate at Walmart Canada, your main focus will be ensuring the sales floor is well-stocked, organized, and customer-ready at all times. You’ll greet shoppers, help them navigate the store, assist with purchase decisions, and address any concerns that come up. Beyond customer interaction, you’ll be hands-on with stocking merchandise, completing modular setups, and moving feature merchandise back to its proper location.

Working safely and maintaining a hazard-free environment is a core part of the job. You’ll follow Walmart’s company policies and procedures, complete safety sweep logs, and ensure that all displays and fixtures are secure. Teamwork and communication with fellow associates are essential to keeping floor coverage consistent throughout your shift.

The minimum rate of pay for this position starts at $18.75/hour. You’ll be responsible for both floor presentation and direct customer support, making the role a solid mix of physical tasks and people skills. Here’s what a typical shift looks like:

• Greet and assist customers in a polite and friendly manner, helping them locate merchandise and make informed purchase decisions
• Resolve customer concerns on the spot and refer more complex issues to the appropriate team member
• Cover and zone assigned areas of the sales floor to keep merchandise organized and accessible
• Stock merchandise and complete downstocking as applicable, applying product protection where required
• Set and complete modular displays, including flex modulars and new shelf caps
• Move feature merchandise back to its modular home as needed
• Work recovery merchandise from the Customer Service desk and other store areas
• Assist with Front End coverage when required
• Maintain a safe, clean, and hazard-free work environment by following company policies, completing safety sweep logs, and ensuring all displays and fixtures are secure
• Communicate effectively with fellow associates to maintain consistent floor coverage throughout the day
