About the Role: General Merchandise Associate

As a General Merchandise Associate, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the general merchandise area of the store. That means greeting customers warmly, helping them locate products, assisting with purchase decisions, and resolving any concerns that come up during their visit. You’ll also be involved in covering assigned sections of the sales floor, zoning your area, and moving feature merchandise back to its proper location.

Teamwork and workplace safety are central to this position. You’ll communicate regularly with fellow associates to make sure floor coverage stays consistent, complete safety sweep logs, and ensure that displays and fixtures are secure. Adherence to Walmart’s policies and procedures is a key part of keeping the store environment safe, clean, and hazard-free for both customers and colleagues.

Benefits and Salary

The minimum rate of pay for this position starts at $18.25 per hour. In addition to competitive hourly wages, Walmart Canada offers a solid package of benefits. Responsibilities

Day to day, a General Merchandise Associate at Walmart keeps the sales floor running smoothly by balancing customer service with hands-on merchandising work. From stocking shelves to guiding shoppers, every task contributes to a positive in-store experience that keeps customers coming back.

• Greet and assist all customers in a polite and friendly manner, helping them locate merchandise and make purchase decisions
• Resolve customer concerns on the spot, referring issues to the appropriate team member when needed
• Cover and zone assigned areas of the sales floor to keep the store looking organized and well-presented
• Move feature merchandise back to its modular home location as required
• Process recovery merchandise from the Customer Service desk and other areas of the store
• Assist with Front End coverage when needed and communicate with fellow associates to maintain consistent floor coverage
• Stock merchandise, apply product protection where required, and complete modular sets including flex modulars and new shelf caps
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment by following company policies, completing safety sweep logs, and ensuring displays and fixtures are secure
