Walmart’s store in Truro, Nova Scotia is looking for a Food & Consumables Team Associate to join their retail team. This is a Regular/Permanent position with a varied schedule covering mornings, afternoons, evenings, and nights — making it a flexible option for candidates at different stages of their careers.

About the Role: Food & Consumables Team Associate

As a Food & Consumables Team Associate, your primary focus will be maintaining a well-organized and properly stocked department. This includes zoning shelves and bunkers, rotating stock, verifying expiry dates, and ensuring that all merchandise is correctly signed and priced. The goal is simple: make sure customers can always find what they need, in the right place, at the right price.

Compliance is a key part of this role. You’ll be expected to follow Walmart’s standards for cold chain compliance, thermometer calibrations, temperature recording, and proper food handling procedures. Whether it’s managing clearance items or applying markdowns correctly, attention to detail and adherence to established procedures are essential to succeeding here.

The minimum rate of pay for this position starts at $16.90 per hour. Responsibilities

• Zone the department to ensure product shelves, tables, and bunkers are organized and products are in the correct locations
• Rotate stock and check for expired or out-of-date products on a regular basis
• Verify merchandise is properly signed and priced throughout the food and consumables area
• Adhere to cold chain compliance standards including thermometer calibrations, temperature recording, food handling, and sell-by/expiration date monitoring
• Follow proper procedures for ordering, clearance, markups/markdowns, signing, flagging, pricing, and labelling
• Deliver exemplary customer service in line with Walmart’s core beliefs and values
