About the Role: Engineering Project Manager, Charging

Day to day, you’ll be managing all pre-construction phases for Tesla’s Supercharger and charging site network. That means coordinating due diligence field visits, reviewing project documents, facilitating utility interconnection processes, and navigating zoning and permitting with local jurisdictions. A core KPI for this role is the number of sites brought to a construction-ready status, so your ability to move projects efficiently through the pipeline is central to your success.

You’ll also represent Tesla’s charging programme at public meetings, manage stakeholder relationships across property owners, utility companies, and local governments, and hand off fully approved and permitted projects to the construction team. The role requires 25–50% travel, so comfort with being in the field regularly is essential.

Tesla offers competitive annual compensation for this role. The expected salary range is $87,400 – $131,100/year for the Technical Construction Project Manager level and $95,000 – $142,500/year for Senior Technical Construction Project Manager, plus cash and stock awards at all levels. Pay may vary based on market location, skills, and experience. Responsibilities

This role sits at the core of Tesla’s charging infrastructure expansion in Canada. You’ll be responsible for moving charging sites through every pre-construction phase, acting as the central point of coordination between internal teams and external stakeholders. The work is varied, requiring both technical judgment and strong relationship management skills.

• Manage all pre-construction phases of feasibility, design, and site development for charging locations, with a key focus on bringing sites to a construction-ready status
• Conduct field site visits to assess constructability, utility servicing, design, and cost, and prepare site reports and preliminary sketches as needed
• Review project documents to evaluate construction viability and flag any risks or issues early in the process
• Liaise with utility companies to determine optimal interconnection points and finalize design, service agreements, and easements
• Engage with zoning and permitting personnel to understand local approval requirements, identify opportunities to reduce timelines, and represent Tesla at public meetings
• Track and manage all required regulatory approvals throughout the project lifecycle
• Hand off completed projects — fully approved, permitted, and construction-ready — to Tesla’s construction team, providing RFI and design support as required

Requirements / Skills

Tesla is looking for a self-starter with a bias to action and the technical foundation to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder infrastructure projects. The right candidate brings a combination of engineering knowledge, site development experience, and the communication skills to work effectively across utility companies, municipalities, and internal teams.

• Willingness and ability to travel 25–50% as required by the role
• 2+ years of project management, vendor management, or site development experience, preferably in EV installation, telecom, solar, or retail development, with an Engineering degree or equivalent experience
• Working knowledge of electrical design drawings, electrical equipment, power integration, and utility design processes, plus advanced knowledge of regulatory and permitting procedures
• Proven track record of managing and delivering multiple simultaneous projects ahead of schedule without sacrificing quality
• Proficiency in reading and redlining zoning and construction drawings, including utility designs and power distribution details, with an understanding of cost implications
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with property owners, local jurisdictions, utility companies, contractors, and other stakeholders
• Ability to work autonomously with a proactive, innovative mindset geared toward improving designs, processes, and costs
