Driver Trainer – Amazon.com Services LLC – San Jose, CA

Amazon is seeking energetic, self-motivated Driver Trainers to help build a network of customer-centric Delivery Associates in the communities they serve. As a Driver Trainer, you will mentor and teach large groups of Delivery Associates, focusing on hands-on training and drive-alongs to reinforce safe practices in daily operations.

In this role, you will lead the effort to establish a safety-first culture at the delivery station, managing the training experience independently and educating Delivery Associates on safety, quality, and productivity practices.

You’ll adapt your teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and foster continuous learning by addressing questions and finding solutions. This role is critical to ensuring that Amazon’s delivery associates are fully prepared to meet and exceed customer expectations.

About the Role

The Driver Trainer plays a crucial role in ensuring safety and operational excellence across Amazon’s delivery stations. This position involves leading daily training sessions, conducting drive-alongs, and educating Delivery Associates on Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance. Trainers collaborate with Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) and management teams to monitor performance, provide retraining when necessary, and ensure adherence to safety protocols.

Driver Trainers must be able to lift up to 49 pounds, stand and walk for up to 12 hours, and perform physical tasks such as driving, loading, and unloading packages. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including weekends and holidays, and traveling within a 50-mile radius to support training at different delivery stations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate daily training sessions for up to 30 Delivery Associates, including both classroom instruction and drive-alongs.
  • Collaborate with DSPs, Operations Managers, and Area Managers to coordinate, facilitate, and measure training activities.
  • Monitor and track driver performance, offering retraining where necessary to meet safety and operational standards.
  • Audit compliance with safety and operational standards, including vehicle inspections, hours of service, and road safety.
  • Provide accurate reporting on training completion, compliance, and performance metrics.

Basic Qualifications

The following qualifications are required for the Driver Trainer role:

  • 1+ years of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift up to 49 pounds and work 40 hours per week, including overtime as needed.
  • 1+ years of experience delivering training both to individuals and groups.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred for this role:

  • 2+ years of professional driving experience.
  • Experience delivering training to both individuals and groups.
  • Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of experience working at Amazon.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional techniques.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
