Design Technologist – Amazon – Toronto, ON
Location: Toronto, ON | Company: Amazon
Amazon’s Brand Innovation Lab is looking for a Design Technologist to join their Advertising Design Technology team in Toronto, Ontario. This is a role where creative vision meets technical execution — you’ll be building custom branded experiences that reach millions of customers across Amazon’s ecosystem of devices and properties.
Day-to-day, you’ll be split between strategy and hands-on development, contributing to new ad product definitions, pre-sales prototypes, and full campaign executions. You’ll collaborate directly with Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and Account teams to bring disruptive ideas to life across web, mobile, Fire TV, Alexa, and emerging platforms.
About the Role: Design Technologist
This position sits at the intersection of design and development. You’ll be prototyping and executing branded custom experiences across Amazon properties, working with vanilla TypeScript/JavaScript on both client and server sides, building your own libraries, and creating task automation (including AI-driven solutions) to accelerate development. You’ll need a thorough understanding of the current and future state of web technology and how it applies to user-centred design.
You’ll be handling multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-autonomy environment. Strong documentation skills, a data-driven mindset, and a genuine passion for both design and front-end development are essential to succeed in this role. You’ll be contributing ideas for how to conceive, create, and deliver branded shopping experiences that serve customers on a global scale.
Benefits and Salary
The base salary range for this position is $74,300 to $124,000 CAD annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon’s total compensation package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The company offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, and basic life & AD&D), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources to support health and well-being.
