About the Role: Casual Driver

As a Casual Driver with DHL Express in Ottawa, you’ll be responsible for completing assigned deliveries and pickups, scanning and processing freight in accordance with established procedures and security policies, and performing accurate sorting of inbound material within tight deadlines. You’ll also assist with warehouse duties such as moving freight, supporting the Tracing Department, and keeping the warehouse area organized and clean.

Working in a unionized environment, you’ll be expected to meet DHL’s security requirements, uphold safety standards, and contribute to a cooperative team atmosphere. The ability to work efficiently under time constraints is essential, as is a professional attitude when interacting with customers both in person and over the phone.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned deliveries and pickups in a timely and accurate manner
• Scan and process freight according to established procedures and security policies
• Sort and process inbound material accurately and within set deadlines
• Move freight within the warehouse area as required
• Assist the Tracing Department with warehouse checks for missorts and on-hands
• Perform accurate reporting as required during your shift
• Participate in the organization and clean-up of the warehouse area
• Interact with customers professionally, both on the phone and in person
• Maintain a safe and cooperative work environment throughout every shift

Requirements / Skills

DHL is looking for a reliable candidate who can handle the physical demands of delivery work while also contributing effectively to warehouse operations. Strong time management, a professional demeanour, and a clean driving record are essential for this role.

• Valid G driver’s licence and a clean driving record — non-negotiable for this position
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs per piece and handle bulky, heavy, and awkward shipments
• Minimum one year of warehouse and/or customer service experience (considered an asset)
• Good knowledge of MS Office, including comfortable use of Excel
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure and tight time constraints
• Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
