Job Summary & Tips for Applying
Quick Summary & What to Highlight: The Bakery InStore Clerk (Part-Time, Evening) role at Loblaws in Ottawa involves stocking bakery shelves, maintaining displays, and helping customers on the floor, with no prior experience required. Two things worth putting front and centre on a resume are your physical ability to handle up to 50 lbs and stay mobile for a full shift, and any history of customer-facing work, since responding to customer needs is a core part of the job.
Resume & Application Tips: The posting asks for a team player with attention for detail and someone who is motivated to learn, so use those exact phrases when describing past roles, even outside retail. If you’ve worked in any environment that required stocking, sorting, or maintaining a tidy work area, describe that clearly. Availability matters here: state your evening and weekend availability explicitly on your resume or in a cover note. An example of a measurable detail that works well for this kind of role: “Stocked and rotated 200+ products per shift while maintaining department cleanliness standards.”
Interview Preparation: Be ready to give a specific example of a time you helped a customer solve a problem, since responding to customer needs is listed as a primary duty. You should also prepare to answer directly about your availability for evenings and weekends, as the schedule may include both. Worth asking at the interview: what a typical evening shift looks like in the bakery department, and how new clerks are trained during their first few weeks.
