About the Role: Business Strategy Lead

As the Business Strategy Lead, you’ll be deeply embedded in the Canada Public Sector Healthcare and Alliance business, working across two distinct teams. Your work will span strategic planning, operating rhythm design, executive narrative development, and cross-functional initiative management. You’ll serve as the connective tissue between leadership priorities and day-to-day execution — ensuring that the business is always moving forward with clarity and accountability.

Amazon offers a competitive base salary for this position ranging from $111,300 to $185,800 CAD annually for the Toronto location. Total compensation may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Amazon’s comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life & AD&D), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources supporting health and well-being.

Responsibilities

The day-to-day work in this role spans strategic leadership, operational oversight, and executive communication across the Healthcare and Public Sector Alliance business. You’ll be responsible for driving decisions, building alignment, and ensuring that priorities translate into tangible results across a complex, matrixed organization.

  • Strategic Partnership: serve as a trusted advisor to the business leader — translating priorities into actionable plans and representing leadership in key cross-functional forums
  • Operating Rhythm: design and manage the business cadence including leadership meetings, pipeline reviews, QBRs, planning cycles, and executive updates
  • OKR/KPI Tracking: define and monitor key performance indicators and business trends, ensuring meetings result in clear decisions and accountability
  • Cross-Functional Influence: lead high-impact initiatives from concept through execution across account teams, partners, specialists, marketing, and finance — without direct reporting authority
  • Strategy & Narratives: author strategy papers, state-of-the-business narratives, business updates, and executive-ready recommendations
  • Market & Business Analysis: conduct business cases, market assessments, and scenario modelling — translating complex data into concise, actionable insights
  • Global Collaboration: work with global stakeholders to coordinate go-to-market (GTM) motions and organizational initiatives as needed

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of experience in sales, business, or corporate strategy and is comfortable operating in a high-growth, fast-paced environment. AWS values professionals who combine analytical rigour with strong communication skills and the ability to drive results through influence rather than authority.

  • 7+ years of experience in sales, business strategy, or corporate strategy roles
  • Cross-functional partnership experience: proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive action without direct reporting relationships
  • Executive communication: experience converting complex insights into clear, written strategy and business narratives for senior leadership
  • Financial & operational analysis: experience applying KPIs to business analyses and building reports/data sets that inform decision-making
  • Problem-solving in ambiguity: demonstrated ability to handle undefined challenges with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Priority management: experience coordinating cross-functional inputs and meeting deadlines in a competing-priorities environment
  • Nice to have: MBA or advanced degree, knowledge of AWS or cloud computing, experience in public sector or technology sales, and familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM tools
