About the Role: Audiologist / Hearing Instrument Practitioner

As the Dispensing Audiologist or Hearing Instrument Practitioner at Costco Langley, you’ll be responsible for the full scope of clinical hearing care. This includes conducting comprehensive hearing evaluations — air and bone conduction testing, speech audiometry, and history-taking — as well as all aspects of hearing aid dispensing, from evaluation and recommendation through to fitting, verification, and validation. You’ll also handle impression-taking, shell repair, and minor modifications.

Beyond the clinical work, you’ll be expected to maintain accurate and complete patient records, follow all infection control and privacy standards, and stay current on the full range of products and services available through the hearing centre. Escorting patients into the testing facility and ensuring a comfortable, professional experience is also part of the role.

Responsibilities

In this role, your clinical responsibilities span the full continuum of hearing care — from the initial patient consultation through to hearing instrument verification and ongoing support. Every task you carry out contributes to members receiving accurate assessments and appropriately fitted devices that genuinely improve their quality of life.

  • Conduct hearing assessments including case history, air and bone conduction threshold testing, and speech audiometry for the purpose of hearing aid dispensing
  • Evaluate and recommend hearing instruments based on audiological findings, or refer patients when appropriate
  • Fit and dispense hearing aids, performing verification and validation of instrument performance
  • Take ear impressions and carry out shell repair and modifications as needed
  • Maintain complete records and documentation in accordance with professional and regulatory standards
  • Adhere to infection control and privacy and confidentiality protocols at all times
  • Stay knowledgeable about all hearing centre products and services to support informed member decisions
  • Escort patients into the hearing testing facility and manage access to the testing environment
  • Assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed

Requirements / Skills

Costco is seeking a fully qualified and regulated hearing health professional who brings both clinical competence and a genuine commitment to member-centred care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working independently within a retail healthcare setting.

  • Master’s Degree in Audiology OR registration/licensure as a Hearing Instrument Practitioner with full authority to dispense hearing aids in BC
  • Registered (or eligible for registration) with the relevant regulatory College in British Columbia and/or in good standing with your provincial association
  • Authorization (or eligibility) to provide government-funded hearing services where applicable
  • Clinical experience in hearing assessment and dispensing is preferred
  • Strong communication and counselling skills with a focus on member/patient service
  • Attention to detail and technical aptitude, including solid computer skills and organizational ability
